FedEx Cup should be based on par, not points
By Gary Van Sickle
September 20, 2010
For a system based entirely on points, the FedEx Cup series continues to miss the point. Completely.
After criticism in the first two seasons that the point system was too complicated, the PGA Tour tweaked it. What that meant, simply, was greatly reducing the number of points.

U.S. Ryder Cup team shows promise at BMW Championship

Dear Captain Pavin,
The shortwave radio you gave me ran out of juice so I'm filing my secret Ryder Cup scouting report to you by more conventional means the pages of SI Golf Plus and Golf.com. Ryder Cup subplots were the story at The Barclays

The remarkable life and mysterious death of J. A year before his body was found on the side of a Georgia road, Edgar, a transplanted Brit, wrote his short, simple and long out-of-print testament to what he believed was the game's underlying secret: the inside-to-out path to the ball, which he fervently believed could be facilitated by passing the clubhead through a very simple training aid.

August 3, 2010
Dallas, TX It was a balmy Texas morning, months before the start of the NFL season, but Tony Romo was already getting limber, primed to lead his team on its opening drive. As usual, he attracted interest. Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys, stood near the entrance of the venue he had created, taking in the action with his trademark stone-faced gaze. DeMarcus Ware watched, too, as did Terence Newman, both stalwart defenders, both looking disappointed that tackling wasnt allowed.

Corey Pavin is no longer a bridesmaid
By Doug Farrar
July 28, 2010
Sammamish, WA It's been one of those years for Corey Pavin; the kind of year where you miss it by that much like Maxwell Smart, and spend your time standing a yard away from Forrest Gump, watching all the cool stuff happen to someone else. In June, he lost to Bubba Watson in a playoff at the Travelers on the PGA Tour, and he lost the Senior British Open last week by one stroke to Bernhard Langer, despite shooting a 70 to Langer's 72 on Sunday. And he's come so close to winning of late despite the distractions that come with his status as the Ryder Cup Captain. As he prepares for the U.S. Senior Open this week, Pavin reflected on how he'd been able to keep everything together.

Five for fighting at the U.S. Senior Open
By Doug Farrar
July 28, 2010
Sammamish, WA There are two things you need to know about Sahalee, the course in Sammamish, Washington, where the 31st U.S. Senior Open Championship will he held this week. First, it is a ridiculously vertical tree-lined course the fairways and doglegs will widen a bit as you go, but half the time, you feel as if you're hitting your tee shots at the doorway of a very large broom closet. If you have an aversion to your precious drives hitting a tree every now and again, you'd best stick to links golf.

Writing off Tiger Woods
By Joe Posnanski

I have no idea how or why Woods will play this week. But I do believe two things:

The continued expectations of Michelle Wie
As I was preparing to write a post about Michelle Wie and her always inflated expectations, I was mulling around, researching the young star. When I came across a simple fact, her age, I was dumbfounded. "She can't be 20, can she?" I asked a friend of mine if I had came across an error online. I asked another friend. It turns out, Wie is just 20 years of age, a number that seems preposterous for how long we've talked about her and had her in our golfing lives.
